In highly-developed industrialized countries robots are already an integral part of the routine manufacturing process in numerous industrial sectors. Robotics is therefore another future market for e-Manufacturing, because this is where customized production is really being taken to extremes. One decisive advantage of laser-sintering technology is the freedom of design available for producing robot components, such as highly complex grippers with versatile functions for example. In this area in particular, innovations based on bionic principles and produced by e-Manufacturing are on the upswing. Selective laser-sintering makes it possible to integrate these types of gripper functions into extremely confined spaces, to build joints and flexible areas in one single step, to optimize geometries and save materials. This is what makes the process extremely attractive for many manufacturers, above all because production costs do not increase with the complexity of the application.
