EOS Founder and CEO
Dr. Hans J. Langer is chairman of the EOS Group, a family owned business.
In 1989, Dr. Hans J. Langer founded EOS, with the vision to produce 3D objects directly from CAD data, using laser technology. With a pioneering spirit and an in depth knowledge of market requirements, Dr. Langer expanded the company into an independent and world-leading manufacturer of high-end solutions in the field of additive manufacturing (AM).
Under his leadership, EOS is experiencing continuous growth and now employs 1,000 people worldwide. Sustainability, social responsibility and the spirit of innovation are the cornerstones and the driving force behind its entrepreneurial activities.
The Langer family maintains a dynamic network of partner companies and promising start-ups, and its holding company now comprises more than 20 companies, including SCANLAB GmbH.
Dr. Langer is a laureate of the Bavarian State Medal and received the German Innovation Prize in 2007. In 2015, Manager Magazine awarded him the Game Changer Award, and commended EOS as "an excellent example of technical innovation and entrepreneurial design power."
After studying Physics at the Technical University of Munich, he was awarded a PhD in Laser Technology at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich in 1980.
Prior to the founding of EOS, Dr. Langer was active in research at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics, and Managing Director at General Scanning GmbH.
In his spare time, Dr. Langer is a passionate glider pilot and a lover of classical music. He lives near Munich with his family and two children
