Hanover Fair 2016: EOS is part of the innovative shared stand "Emotional Engineering in Lightweight Design”

Halle 6, Stand D 44: EOS presents high-end solutions for lightweight design based on Additive Manufacturing as part of a new stand concept. Together with five other companies and as part of the Solutions Area Lightweight the stand showcases Lightweight in all its facets.

Krailling/Germany,  April 20, 2016 – EOS, global technology and quality leader for high-end solutions in Additive Manufacturing (AM), is present at this year's Hanover Fair, which is opening its doors between 25 and 29 April 2016. Within the scope of the Solutions Area Lightweight Design in hall 6 – which is part of “Industrial Supply", the international leading trade fair for innovative supply and lightweight solutions, EOS together with five other companies* is presenting the topic of lightweight design on the innovative shared stand “Emotional Engineering in Lightweight Design".

On Stand D44 networking and innovation in lightweight design will be presented in all its facets and along the entire supply chain – from design thinking and industrial design, through design engineering and calculation, up to additively manufactured components and corresponding material tests. In this context, the focus is on design, emotions, cost-effectiveness, ecological and environmental aspects. There will be workshops for visitors to the trade fair on the stand and also daily keynote presentations given by top class speakers in the Material Forum.

At the booth, EOS will showcase a building FORMIGA P 110. The compact plastic AM system enables a reasonably priced and efficient introduction to the world of additive manufacturing. EOS is also showing examples of various lightweight design exhibits on the booth.

Manufacture any fine and complex lightweight design structures
The demand for lightweight design with all its advantages is now occupying many industries. This concerns aspects such as using ever scarcer and more expensive commodities more sparingly and also reaching industry-specific sustainability targets.

Maimilian Eils, Application Development Consultant at EOS emphasises: “Additive manufacturing from EOS enables the design and also quick, flexible and reasonably priced manufacturing of products directly from 3D CAD data. Thus among others any fine and simultaneously high strength lightweight design structures can be generated, which conventional production procedures fail at." And he adds: “In this way the technology offers innovative solutions for current and future challenges facing industry and gives developers maximum geometric freedom of design." In this context, superfluous material, which is unavoidable in conventional manufacturing, can be removed from many components as early as during the design engineering process. Then during production material is only being deposited where it is functionally necessary. As such, users gain leeway in construction and design.
