Experience Quality in Additive Manufacturing is the motto EOS recently showcased at EuroMold, the leading world fair held in Frankfurt/Main, Germany for mold making and tooling, design and application development. Under this motto, EOS is working to ensure the elements required for series production are implemented and sustained so, in turn, Additive Manufacturing (AM) can be used in modern manufacturing environments. These elements include the reproduction of top-quality final components and a smooth quality assurance chain, for example.

During EuroMold, many visitors learned about our growing portfolio of AM solutions for polymer and metal applications alongside suitable software and services. Such solutions include even more comprehensive process monitoring and quality assurance features as well as further development of the right materials for industry-specific fields of application. EOS M 400: Successful Completion of the Pilot Phase for the New System Generation for Series Production
In 2014, we put the platform which we launched the previous year through intensive practical tests in close cooperation with pilot customers. The customer feedback we received proves we are providing new methods for series production with this metal-based, additive system. As well as manufacturing larger components, the new system offers optimized quality assurance and operability and facilitates significant increases in productivity and a continually improved degree of automation.

At the conclusion of the pilot phase, Andreas Berkau, Managing Director of Citim, one of the leading AM service providers for prototype and small series production, comments, "The EOS M 400 system is a consistent further development of existing system technologies which fulfils numerous expectations on a new manufacturing system – such as increasing process stability and productivity and the possibility of manufacturing even larger components. A significant increase in productivity can be expected with this system technology, particularly for the manufacturing of aluminium components." > More

IPCM-M extra: Up to 50 % Increase in Productivity
The Integrated Process Chain Management IPCM-M extra for EOS metal systems ensures  maximum product quality for  prototypes and series production by  improving the productivity of AM  systems and thus increasing the  efficiency of the process. Like its  predecessor IPCM-M, the IPCM-M  extra has a modular structure and  can be integrated in all system environments.
With the new generation, the IPCM- M extra powder conveying module offers around 50 % more conveying performance and the service life of the powder screen module is about 50 % longer. > More

PA 1102 black: Homogeneous-Coloured, High Impact Resistance and Resilience
PA 1102 black is made from renewable resources and is a coloured Polyamide 11 material for the manufacturing of deep black, highly-resilient parts. It has a high flexibility, bendability and impact resistance so that the parts will not split even under excessive load conditions. The material’s excellent mechanical properties make the material a perfect fit for serial parts, highly-stressed, functional models as well as design prototypes.

During material development, EOS closely cooperated with pilot customers. Mike Schuch, Head of Mechanical Engineering & Machine Shop at Accurate Technologies Inc. sums up the testing results as follows: “In 2014, Accurate Technologies Inc. joined with EOS to help develop and refine the PA 1102 black Nylon 11 material. This material is Accurate’s primary material and the basis for several ATI products, the first of which was the
CANary Interface Module’. We’ve been very happy with the results. The PA 1102 black material gives us the ability to produce innovative products that are enclosed in equally innovative designs that are custom fitted to our products without compromising strength, durability and aesthetics. We look forward to releasing many more products in the future with this very effective combination.”

EOS Silver Jubilee: Steady Global Growth and Technology Leadership
EOS has been making unprecedented growth for 25 years. As of October 2014, around 1,500 EOS systems have been installed worldwide. In the last fiscal year, turnover increased by 36 % compared to the previous year to reach 177 million euros. We have also seen a steady increase in employee figures. EOS currently has around 540 employees working at 11 sites, with employee figures up by about 8 % compared to the last fiscal year, and is planning to increase the total number of employees to about 640 by the end of the current fiscal year.

This growth is also reflected by the 17,000 m² of floor space at the new Technology and Customer centre in Krailling/Germany, which the company moved into in the summer of this year. Here and at the other three technology centres worldwide, EOS uses about 100 in-house developed systems in the fields of Research & Development and application in order to develop technology, materials and applications.
