EOS NickelAlloy 247

Material Data Sheet

EOS NickelAlloy 247

EOS NickelAlloy 247 is a high gamma prime fraction Ni-base superalloy with a combination of strength and oxidation resistance at elevated temperature.

EOS NickelAlloy 247 requires advanced processing and post-processing/heat treatment strategies for successful component fabrication, which are offered in combination with EOS consulting and application development by AdditiveMinds.

MAIN CHARACTERISTICS

 High strength at elevated temperatures
 Creep resistance
 Oxidation and hot corrosion resistance

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

Gas turbine hot gas path components; nozzle guide vanes, blades, ring segments
Integrally bladed disks (blisks) turbopump rotors
Engineering components for sustained service at elevated temperatures

The EOS Quality Triangle

EOS uses an approach that is unique in the AM industry, taking each of the three central technical elements of the production process into account: the system, the material and the process. The data resulting from each combination is assigned a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) which makes the expected performance and production capability of the solution transparent.

EOS incorporates these TRLs into the following two categories:

  • Premium products (TRL 7-9): offer highly validated data, proven capability and reproducible part properties.
  • Core products (TRL 3 and 5): enable early customer access to newest technology still under development and are therefore less mature with less data.

All of the data stated in this material data sheet is produced according to EOS Quality Management System and international standards

POWDER PROPERTIES

EOS NickelAlloy 247 powder composition matches the composition of cast versions of the same superalloy. The powder is manufactured by vacuum inert gas atomization and gas atomization. Impurities and tramp elements are strictly controlled.

HEAT TREATMENT

Description

EOS NickelAlloy 247 requires careful selection of heat treatment, which can beoptimized for the specific component to be manufactured and its functional requirements.

Heat treatment typically includes a stress relief and solution treatment (this may be done within a HIP) followed by an ageing heat treatment.

Shot peening is recommended prior to heat treatment.
