Full Thrust Ahead: Siemens Experiences Innovation for Maintenance of High Performance Industrial Gas Turbines
Swedish-based company, Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB (SIT), manufactures gas turbines for power generation in industrial and oil and gas applications. The performance spectrum of these turbines ranges between 15 and 60 MW. Besides construction, the Siemens subsidiary also provides long-term service and maintenance for these engineering masterpieces. In an effort to help reduce maintenance costs, Siemens is currently working with the development and implementation of Additive Manufacturing technology, utilising EOS technology and equipment. The current application points out that the time required for the repair process by burner tips could be reduced by more than 90 percent.More

The process is thereby accelerated, tying up less resources, and as a result, becomes more cost-efficient to implement.

Corrosion Resistant Stainless Steel for the Watch and Jewellery Industry as well as Medical Applications
EOS StainlessSteel 316L, an iron-based alloy, is corrosion resistant and offers high ductility.
This type of stainless steel is well established in the watch and jewellery industry and can now be processed with EOS technology, allowing you to take advantage of the high degree of flexibility. A key benefit is the possibility of reducing raw material consumption. In addition, structures can be built to specifically include cavities, resulting in reduced cost and lighter weight construction.
As the material is bio-compatible it can also be used in the medical industry for implants or surgical tools.More
