Industrial 3D printing offers companies immense potential in the development of new applications. Especially for newcomers, it is important to build up know-how quickly. However, there are so far no comprehensive training programs and only few experts available on the labor market. The Additive Minds Academy’s mission is to develop innovative learning formats and impart application-oriented knowledge about industrial 3D printing in the shortest possible time. EOS, the world's leading technology supplier in the field of industrial 3D printing for metals and polymers, is thus further expanding its offering in the areas of training and knowledge transfer.

Back in 2016, EOS founded the consulting unit Additive Minds, which supports companies in tapping the great potential of industrial 3D printing. This consulting offering is now complemented by the digital trainings of the Additive Minds Academy which bundle the many years of experience from consulting and technical training.

In addition, EOS wants to accelerate the global change towards responsible manufacturing and also put more focus on sustainability in vocational education. The COVID-19 pandemic has shown that a rethink must happen when it comes to travel for training purposes. Through blended learning formats, online and remote training, the Additive Minds Academy is taking a step towards conserving resources and thus reducing not only travel times but also training costs.

"With our learning paths, customers can train powerful teams with all the skills needed in additive manufacturing. The knowledge we offer ranges from basic understanding of the technology to selecting components for AM production, as well as design and AM-appropriate engineering, to scaling and validating production. For each individual role, we develop a corresponding training program."

Learning paths enable steep learning curve

The Additive Minds Academy offering includes individual learning modules and comprehensive learning paths that prepare for various roles in additive manufacturing - from machine operator to application specialist to production manager. Customers receive support for onboarding new employees, as well as further training for existing employees.

The learning paths are designed so that the competence required for a new role in Additive Manufacturing can be built up within only four to six weeks. The courses combine online and self-study with practical learning based on case studies. Participants are supervised throughout the course, receive one-on-one feedback, and can get in touch with other learners. At the end of the program, they take a test to then be certified by the Additive Minds Academy.

Further information, an explanatory video and a description of the individual learning paths can be found in the EOS Store.

The offering is growing rapidly and currently includes eleven e-learnings and the three learning paths AM Data Preparation Specialist Metal, AM Application Specialist Metal and AM Data Preparation Specialist Polymer.
