EOS Selected by Ursa Major to Scale Hypersonics and Defense Production

____ NOVI, Michigan, 3 September 2025

Aerospace and Defense company Ursa Major, has expanded its investment in EOS metal additive manufacturing (AM) technology with the acquisition of three (3) AMCM M 450-4 FLX systems. This brings Ursa Major’s total EOS-powered fleet to six (6) metal AM systems – positioning the company to scale all hypersonics production at its growing production facility in Youngstown, Ohio.

As the company builds out its production capacity to meet rising national security and aerospace demand, Ursa Major has decided to expand with EOS for its proven laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) industrial 3D printing technology, deep AM expertise, and collaborative approach to pushing the boundaries of AM industry.

“EOS and AMCM have been fantastic to work with – proven reliability, a responsive U.S. service team, and the largest deployed fleet of metal AM systems in the country. Beyond that, they bring an openness and engineering partnership. Together, we’re challenging legacy approaches to part qualification and process qualification, pushing the entire additive industry forward.”
Nick Doucette, VP of Operations at Ursa Major.

This partnership extends beyond industrial 3D printing hardware. In collaboration with EOS and its AMCM group, Ursa Major is leveraging EOS’ laser toolpath API with full EOS engineering support, unlocking software-driven customization and printing freedom that aligns with Ursa Major’s advanced internal capabilities.

“Ursa Major’s work with EOS demonstrates the next era of additive manufacturing - where advanced users are empowered to innovate on their own terms. With EOS technology and the support of our Additive Minds team, this collaboration shows how OEM and user together can unlock progress at a pace never seen before,” said Greg Hayes, Global SVP of Additive Minds, EOS.

AMCM M 450-4 FLX systems feature the latest beam shaping technology, and these fast and powerful printers follow the previous acquisitions of an AMCM M 290-1 FLX and two (2) EOS M 400 systems. All equipment will be deployed to Ursa Major’s Youngstown, Ohio facility, reinforcing their commitment to U.S.-based, scalable additive manufacturing.

Ursa Major exemplifies what’s possible when a forward-thinking company leverages EOS technology to its fullest potential. Their team’s deep technical fluency and bold vision inspire us. We’re proud to support them as they shape the next decade of advanced manufacturing to the defense industry," said Glynn Fletcher, President of EOS North America.
